The quality of the yarn itself is something we take great care over. Our Merino wool and acrylic blend is spun in Italy, where specialist spinners produce a beautifully consistent yarn with a soft, smooth finish. Merino wool brings its natural warmth, breathability and comfort, whilst acrylic adds strength and helps the socks withstand regular wear. The blend also offers good resistance to pilling and helps maintain its appearance over time, making it a practical choice for socks that are worn throughout the shooting season. We use this yarn across a wide variety of designs, from our traditional Harris and Wye wide calf shooting socks to more decorative favourites such as the Ashton, Honeycomb and Whitley. Each has its own character, but all benefit from the same carefully chosen blend of fibres. The yarn also takes colour beautifully, allowing us to develop the rich country shades, softer tones and vibrant combinations that have become such a recognisable part of our collections.
Although our yarn is spun in Italy, every pair of our Merino blend shooting socks is proudly knitted in Britain by specialist manufacturers whose skills and experience we value enormously. We work closely with them to explore different knitting techniques, patterns and finishes, always looking for ways to combine traditional craftsmanship with fresh ideas. From the intricate three-dimensional texture of the Honeycomb to the detailed colourwork of the Ashton, the versatility of this yarn allows us to create designs with very different personalities. After more than 20 years, I still find it exciting to see a new colour combination or pattern come together, and our Merino blend remains one of my favourite materials to design with. Whether you are looking for a reliable everyday shooting sock or something with a little more colour and character, this collection brings together some of the designs we are most proud of.
