Description

The Thornbury shooting sock boasts a classic Fairisle knitted pattern, reminiscent of sweaters and cardigans from our childhoods. The Fairisle pattern originated from the small island "Fair Isle" in the Shetland Isles and rose in popularity after the First World War when the way in which people dressed changed. Our Fairisle pattern shooting socks are knitted in Scotland using a durable Merino wool and acrylic blend; we opted for deep, rich tones in both socks that will complement a variety of tweeds. The evergreen includes shades of Paprika, Cumin, Cherry, Linen and Vert. The Thornbury shooting sock is accompanied by a matching garter tie.

Our socks are knitted from a variety of yarns, all of which are selected for their performance.

For your convenience most of the socks in the range are machine washable (please check individual packaging/product details).

However, please follow our simple guidelines to ensure happy socks:

Turn the socks inside out before washing
Use wool friendly detergent - avoid biological detergents and preferably non-bio's as even these can contain bleaching agents
Use a 30°C wool wash programme
Use a gentle spin programme; 600 rpm or less, is ideal.
Dry flat after washing

Delivery

UK standard delivery is free on orders over £50 and usually takes 3-5 working days. We also offer next-day (including 10:30am), Saturday, and Sunday delivery for UK addresses. Orders must be placed by 2pm the previous working day.

Christmas Returns:
We have extended our returns policy for Christmas 2025. Orders placed between 25th November 2025 and 22nd December 2025 can be returned to us up until 16th January 2026.
