As founder and designer of The Shooting Sock Company Ltd, I’m proud that since 2005 we have offered the largest range of shooting socks, all expertly designed and knitted right here in the UK. After the success of our Extra Long Leg Harris socks launched in 2023, I wanted to bring that same perfect fit to the classic Chessboard design. The result is these extra long shooting socks—featuring an additional 3" in leg length—to provide unmatched coverage and comfort.
Available in timeless mulberry and spruce shades, these socks are designed to pair effortlessly with a variety of tweeds. Crafted in Great Britain from a premium merino and acrylic blend, they feature a classic 4x2 rib knit for style and comfort. The foot and heel are fully reinforced with nylon for durability that keeps pace with your busiest days outdoors.
To complete your look, we also offer the option to add matching mulberry and spruce garter ties, ensuring your socks stay perfectly in place throughout the day.
Available in foot sizes 8 to 14.5, these are perfect shooting socks for tall men who want a heritage design combined with practical performance and a perfect fit.

A Merino wool and acrylic blend is an ideal yarn choice for shooting socks, combining the best of both fibres. Merino wool offers excellent warmth, breathability, and natural moisture-wicking properties, keeping feet dry and comfortable during long days. The addition of acrylic enhances durability and elasticity, helping the socks maintain their shape and resist wear over time. Using Italian spun premium yarn ensures a soft, high-quality finish with consistent strength, making these socks both luxurious and long-lasting for all your adventures in the field.

For your convenience most of the socks in the range are machine washable (please check individual packaging/product details).
However, please follow our simple guidelines to ensure happy socks:
Turn the socks inside out before washing
Use wool friendly detergent - avoid biological detergents and preferably non-bio's as even these can contain bleaching agents
Use a 30°C wool wash programme
Use a gentle spin programme; 600 rpm or less, is ideal.
Dry flat after washing
