Description

The Byron wool shooting sock from Pennine, is a steadfast choice season after season. This classic, versatile sock has stood the test of time with its enduring style that never dates. The distinctive contrast band on the Byron turnover features a subtle patterned knit that adds a touch of charm to its traditional design.

Available in a range of timeless tones, there's a shade for every preference, offering you a selection that will pair well with a multitude of breeks. A coordinating garter tie can be added to help prevent the socks from moving throughout the day as well as adding additional detail. In 2025 we have added two new colours to the Byron range - a robust burgundy & olive and an earthy greenacre & pollen.

Furthermore, the Byron is not just for adults. It also comes in a "mini-me" design, catering to the younger generation with children's shooting socks available in sizes 12 to 3.

Delivery & Returns

Our socks are knitted from a variety of yarns, all of which are selected for their performance.

Wool is an excellent choice for knitting socks because it is naturally breathable. Known for its impressive strength—often compared to steel—wool yarn provides remarkable durability without sacrificing softness or warmth. Its natural crimp creates air pockets that offer superb insulation, ensuring feet stay cosy in colder temperatures. Additionally, wool’s elasticity allows socks to fit well and retain their shape over time, making it a practical and comfortable option for everyday wear.

For your convenience most of the socks in the range are machine washable (please check individual packaging/product details).

However, please follow our simple guidelines to ensure happy socks:

Turn the socks inside out before washing
Use wool friendly detergent - avoid biological detergents and preferably non-bio's as even these can contain bleaching agents
Use a 30°C wool wash programme
Use a gentle spin programme; 600 rpm or less, is ideal.
Dry flat after washing

Delivery

UK standard delivery is free on orders over £50 and usually takes 3-5 working days. We also offer next-day (including 10:30am), Saturday, and Sunday delivery for UK addresses. Orders must be placed by 2pm the previous working day.
